MaMu Studio

Twenty kilometres south of Brno, in Žabčice, stands a compound that is primarily a music recording studio — and the podcast simply pulled up a chair. Alongside the treated live room and a control room with twin monitors there is a separate podcast room with a sofa, mics on stands, a camera and lighting. This is not a microphone set up in someone's living room but a registered business with its own sound engineer.

The rate card is built differently from Prague's. Recording is billed by the day: 4,000 CZK for the room itself, another 4,500 CZK for the engineer if you want one. Post-production, by contrast, is hourly (270 CZK for the room, 450 CZK for the engineer). If you would rather not think about any of it, buy the finished episode outright — 5,000 CZK for audio, 8,000 CZK for audio and video. All excluding VAT.

A bonus you will not find elsewhere: the compound includes a sauna, hot tub and pool for 500 CZK a day, plus backline hire. If you are driving in from a distance and plan to record several episodes back to back, this can become a full-day trip.
